What does 600d mean
We have run them through our tensile strength test machine. We have done five tests per fabric to get the average data, and below is the result. To better illustrate the result, we have also created a chart. Is everything within expectation? I think below are a few things that we can learn from this experiment.
Most of us believe higher weight fabric is stronger than lower weight fabric of the same kind. The test result proves that this belief is indeed TRUE, as we can see that 16oz canvas is twice as strong as 12oz canvas. We can also see a similar relationship between other fabrics such as D and D Nylon. Although nylon and polyester fabrics look very similar, we commonly believe that nylon is stronger.
This belief is also matching with our test result. Surprisingly, we have found that D Cordura is slightly weaker than normal D Nylon. This is really out of our expectation. However, we must keep in mind that Cordura is well known for its durability against abrasion. The fabric is able to protect household items.
Many fabrics come as flameproof, waterproof, and water repellent, making the task of covering household items easier. Overall, the denier polyester, alternatively called the D polyester, is a classic fabric used in the production of many day-to-day items, even for children camp chairs.
It comes as a very durable material, has good stability, and of high quality. It is a good value for money as earlier noted in the article as it is cheaper in price compared to its nylon and Cordura contemporaries.
If you want a material that is suitable for embroidery and for transfer printing, the D fiber is always a great choice. I am designing a unique type of sling chair, and have no idea what the best fabric choices might be. I would prefer not to use typical sling chair material such as Sunbrella, because I would like something softer to the touch. I am thinking more along the lines of camp chair or beach chair materials. What options should I consider?
Great article. Will definitely link through to your article for more info on this fabric type! Barry, thanks for the article. Nice job. This fabric is more lightweight and smoother in appearance. Typically it will be less expensive than the more heavy duty fabric. It is used commercially in lightweight backpacks, electronics accessory cases and inexpensive luggage.
Six hundred denier polyester is a heavy duty fabric. It is used in high quality backpacks, rugged computer cases and luggage. This material is twice as thick as D poly. It is more durable, but more expensive.
