How many nokia lumia sold so far
In the following quarter, the first of , Nokia did not disclose Lumia sales figures. In the second quarter of , it reported 4 million units were sold during the period. From this we can surmise that Nokia enjoyed modest, but quickly expanding sales rates of its Lumia line. However, in the third quarter of , sales fell to 2.
From that point, Lumia sales have expanded in each sequential quarter, from 4. Microsoft's mobile strategy has at times been hard to fathom too. It has favoured a scattergun approach, launching an array of different smartphones and then waiting to see which ones find favour - in contrast to the measured approach of Apple.
Lumias found most of their success at the entry level. Indeed, there hasn't really been a 'flagship' Lumia a clear top of the range device released for a while. In the meantime, Microsoft has been experimenting with putting its services onto iOS and Android devices instead Nokia even testing out an Android device which may have given some customers one less reason to buy its hardware. Why is Windows Phone outselling the iPhone in Poland?
Hint: it's the economics, stupid. Poland was one of seven countries Microsoft named where Windows Phone is more popular than Apple's iPhone. A mixture of brand perception, operator support and good, old-fashioned pricing. Microsoft is, it appears, aiming to be device-agnostic here: it doesn't matter what hardware you own so long as it has Outlook, Office, Skype, Bing, or other Microsoft apps running on it.
It's not a terrible strategy but at the moment consumers still prefer those services on handsets that aren't made by Microsoft. The benefit of making your own hardware is that you can tightly embed your own software and services, making them the default options. When you are piggybacking on someone else's operating system, those close ties are much harder to achieve. If you own an Android, you'll end up using Gmail and other default apps, like Maps. On an iPhone you'll browse with Safari.
It's just easier that way - which is why Microsoft bought up Nokia's smartphone business in the first place. And mobile matters for the biggest tech companies. Even if you can't make money from mobile hardware and not many companies can apart from Apple , that hardware matters because smartphones are - much more than PCs now - the gateway to our digital lives. More information. Nokia previously shipped , devices in North America during the previous quarter. Although Lumia shipments are clearly improving in the rest of the world, the US sales are lagging behind. Nokia's "rolling thunder" approach to the US has been a slow and bumpy so far, with dips and increases over the lifetime of North American Lumia sales.
Although neither device saw a full quarter of sales, it looks like initial demand hasn't helped boost Nokia's efforts in the US. Average selling price for Nokia's smart devices comes in at euros, a four percent increase from the same quarter last year when it was euros. Last year's mix included Nokia and Symbian devices, but this year Nokia is only counting Lumia sales.
The average selling price has dropped by 18 percent quarter-on-quarter though, suggesting that Nokia's low-end Windows Phones are starting to sell.
This is partly backed up by data from Adduplex, a firm that measures the usage statistics of Windows Phones. Adduplex claims Nokia's Lumia is the most popular Windows Phone worldwide, despite less than three months worth of sales. Nokia recently unveiled its Lumia Windows Phone , complete with a megapixel camera.
Nokia introduced the Lumia on T-Mobile earlier this month, so it will be reporting some of those sales next quarter.
